Mark Lorimer, dancer, choreographer and teacher, has a varied background and is mostly known for his work as a dancer with ZOO / Thomas Hauert and Rosas / Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker in Belgium, and is also working as a rehearsal director for Rosas. Mark has an unearthly ability to transform movement with delicacy and precision in order to express his ideas powerfully. He is a strong new voice on the contemporary dance scene and we are lucky to have Mark with us to choreograph for the five members of BODHI PROJECT.
Mark Lorimer has created a piece for BODHI PROJECT that oscillates between folk dance, Cunningham-esque chorus lines and an inside-out tango. The principle of Darwin’s Gypsy Dance was to take basic movement, and apply simple procedures with multiple outcomes. The result is an atypical social dance which finishes somewhere in a future post-apocalypse nirvana.
