Sead Precollege
SEAD PreCollege is a 2 year program for teenagers aged 16 to 25 years old aiming to bridge secondary school education and professional dance studies. It is a unique opportunity for young dancers to develop and nurture their potential as artists, developing long term skills, creativity and sense of belonging.
With cultural and social changes, the focus of training has changed. Young dancers thinking about higher education within the artistic fields, will be asked to achieve versatility. Nevertheless, it is paramount not to lose the sense of mastery. Agency, commitment, sense of effort are important aspects that should not supersede a safe and balanced approach to the physical demands of dance. Gaining understanding and awareness within a structured and caring environment can only result in empowerment for the younger generation, strength in their self confidence and trust in their peers.
SEAD´s reputation has developed over the years to become a respected and leading international arts institution offering a high quality education in Contemporary Dance.
As such, SEAD is a perfect platform to identify and support young talents.

Aim:
The program aims to help dancers learn about their strength and weaknesses, work on them and with them, in a safe and nurturing environment, while allowing the students to learn tools and strategies towards autonomy and confidence in their practice.
Theoretical and somatic approaches will complete the training and help unravelling the underlying patterns common in all dance forms and body techniques
As part of the program, the dancers will be able to attend SEAD´s performances, attend selected rehearsals with renowned choreographers, and reflect on dance and the performing arts within our contemporary world.
Finishing two years of intensive study will give the student a strong and powerful base in which to navigate undergraduate dance auditions on a university level.
As a prerequisite to a full time education we have designed the program to be mindful of the students high school program that they will be attending while studying with us.
Most classes will be taught in English, allowing the dancers to organically develop their language skills alongside their dance training.
Evaluation:
The work and progress of the students will be monitored throughout the year by the faculty. Verbal and written remarks and feedback, both individual and group, are part of the pedagogical process.
Twice a year, the students will be evaluated for weekly technique classes by program’s coordinator in collaboration with the teachers.
